Jags Silica Gel Crystal
Jags Silica Gel Crystal
Silica gel crystals are an excellent choice for preserving flowers because they effectively absorb moisture while maintaining the flower's shape and color. Here's a step-by-step guide to using silica gel for flower preserving:
1. **Choose Your Container**: Select an airtight container that’s slightly larger than the flowers you wish to preserve.
2. **Prepare the Silica Gel**: You’ll need a sufficient amount of silica gel crystals to completely cover the flowers. These crystals are available in craft stores or online.
3. **Layer the Silica Gel**: Pour a layer of silica gel crystals into the bottom of the container, about 1-2 inches deep.
4. **Arrange the Flowers**: Place your flowers on top of the silica gel layer. Make sure they are arranged as desired and avoid overcrowding.
5. **Cover with Silica Gel**: Gently pour more silica gel crystals over the flowers until they are fully covered. You can use a soft brush to help the gel get into the flower’s nooks and crannies.
6. **Seal and Dry**: Close the container tightly to keep moisture out. Allow the flowers to dry for 1-2 weeks. The exact time may vary based on flower type and size.
7. **Check for Dryness**: After the drying period, gently remove the flowers from the silica gel. They should feel dry and crisp. If not fully dried, return them to the container for additional time.
8. **Clean Up**: Brush off any remaining silica gel crystals gently from the flowers.
Silica gel helps preserve the flowers' appearance by preventing wilting and maintaining their natural colors.
